I'm inclined to think that transporting the sponge filter submerged would be the better option, considering the bacteria are fully submerged in the filter. I'd imagine the bacteria would remain viable, but I wouldn't want to hazard a guess on their ...

Re: Discus quarantine and plague
Quarantine is about spotting pre-symptomatic sick fish. Once that's done, the risk shifts to exposing your established fish to something they're not immune to that the new fish are carrying without symptoms. Same goes for the new fish. So, the safest approach is to ...

I think this is more marketing hype than real. The issue of cross contamination and novel pathogens is real and potentially lethal, but it also applies to Asian breeders who are geographically isolated from each other. Quarantine and prophylactic treatment can minimize the risk ...

Liz, even with low chances of success, would you still try treating the main tank or would you move the affected fish to a separate quarantine tank?

Ratin, given the likelihood of HITH, why not move this fish to your QT? Treating the entire DT doesn't seem like the best approach here. In my experience with human infectious diseases, I've seen similar lesions, which often turn out to be furuncles caused by gram ...
