Re: what plants grow fast for cover?

I'd recommend Brazilian Pennywort. It grows fast, can be planted or floated, and looks great. Plus, it's easy to trim back if it gets too wild.

Re: information on pseudotropheus saulosi

I'm after 15-20 Pseudotropheus Saulosi and having no luck finding them anywhere. I've tried Midland Malawi and Northants Malawis but no joy, can anyone point me in the right direction? Are there any breeders on here or know of any that might have some available? I'm willing to pay top dollar for ...

Re: recovering from illness

She's still smiling, and I'm pretty sure she's putting on a bit of weight now. The softer water fish are all doing well, no chasing or fighting to report, and the cherry shrimp are still intact - no casualties at the hands of the Mbuna.

I whipped up some antibiotic pellets using algae flakes ...

Re: recovering from illness

No replies, but plenty of views - I took that as a good sign. I've been gradually introducing the little acei to the new water, and finally released him into the tank yesterday afternoon. By evening, he'd settled in, and this morning he was eager to eat and say hello.

I think he's still getting ...

recovering from illness

I've been gone for a bit and accidentally posted this in the wrong section:
http/www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/424758-convalescence/

To get to the point, I'm wondering if it's alright to temporarily put my underweight acei in a medium to soft water tank with some tankmates while it regains ...

Re: about stevenage specialist aquatics

Been searching for a decent shop in Stevenage for ages, always end up going to St Albans or Enfield. Just found out there's a specialist aquatics in Stevenage that's moved to Crewes Hill, gutted I only just found out.

Re: Is hard water a concern?

I'm definitely not a fan of using RO for my Mbuna setup, no way. I do use it for my Zorchzon community tank, but that's a different story altogether. My Mbuna tank is up and running now, and the guys seem to be loving it.

My tap water's GH is sitting between 16 and 18, which is perfect, and the KH ...

Re: Is hard water a concern?

I've finally managed to send off a plea for help to Nurglespuss, fingers crossed someone with a chemistry background can shed some light on my water woes.

Re: Is hard water a concern?

can water be too hard for Mbuna? i'm in a hard water area and my kettle's got a serious chalk build-up - is this water too harsh for them? i've got the salts to simulate their natural water composition but using tap water seems like a gamble, or should i just add a hint of trace elements to it ...

Is hard water a concern?

I keep reading that GH should be above 7 and KH above 10, but what's the deal when both are around 18?

I'm in a super hard water area - my kettle's basically a chalk factory. I'm worried this water might be too harsh for Mbuna.

I've got the salts and all to recreate the right water composition ...
