Re: discus breeding tank lighting
Man, this lighting stuff is wild. I just threw in a cheap LED from Amazon, and my Discus are like, nah. Gonna try y'all's advice. Got a 40-gallon, sponge filter, and some driftwood. Water's at 84°F, pH 6.8. How long before I see results after changing the lights?
Give it 2–3 weeks after ...

Re: discus breeding tank lighting
Agree with wade on the shorter photoperiod. I've found that Discus prefer subdued lighting during breeding. My setup's similar, 75-gallon, driftwood, and Anubias. I use a programmable LED with a sunrise/sunset feature to mimic natural conditions. Eggs hatch way better now. What's your water change ...

Stunted Juvenile Discus?
Hi everyone, I'm new here and to keeping discus, but I've had experience with african cichlids for years. Recently I got 15 Altum Flora discus from Myrtle Beach Discus, they're 3"-3.5" in size and I'm assuming they're from IP Discus. They've been with me for two weeks now and are already showing ...

Re: How often should JUVENILE discus be fed while on vacation?
I left mine for a week at 4-4.5" no food no WC, I wouldn't be too worried. If he's doing water changes just have him feed a bit then. I lowered temp down to 82 from 85 while I was gone.
Good chance to intro new food when you ...
