Petco often has dollar-per-gallon sales. Grab a 5-gallon, a cheap sponge filter, and a 50-watt heater. It's worth the investment for your fish's health.

Re: Creating a 3d background
Aquadecor's 3D backgrounds now use magnets for installation, I came across this while browsing. The Cichlid bros on youtube have recently fitted one to their African Cichlid tank, it seemed to work well for them.

Re: Is a bigger tank the solution to your aquarium itch?
I took the plunge and upgraded to a larger tank, and I have to say, there was no going back for me. Once those limitations of smaller tanks were lifted, the possibilities seemed endless and I found myself with so much more freedom to plan and create. I was initially worried about the maintenance ...

Re: considering geophagus: is it right for you?
Considering your setup, I'd advise against the Geophagus this time. As earth eaters, they're all about shifting sand and passing it through their gills to find food. With gravel as your substrate, they won't be able to do that, so it might not be the best fit.

Re: How many animal species exist on earth
I'm a fan of variety myself, I find that minimalistic setups tend to lack a certain something. A scape with a range of textures and sizes just looks more natural to me.

Re: have you ever stopped to think about your tank?
Honestly, I think it's perfect just the way it is - the only thing I'd change is the owner's address, to mine. I'm not even kidding, I'd love to have this tank and all its inhabitants. It's truly awesome, and I wouldn't touch a thing.

Re: Are bristlenose plecos compatible with other fish?
I'd agree it's too risky to add plecos with a breeding pair of kribs in a 35g tank. The cories are agile and can dodge the kribs, but plecos are a different story - they can be quite clumsy and will likely cause stress to the kribs as they bash about searching for food.

You really should get a good plant fertilizer, it would make a big difference.
