Re: feeding bettas freeze dried food

Freeze-dried foods are a no-go for me. The main issue I have is they absorb a lot of water, and inside the fish, this can cause bloating and other serious problems. Flake foods don't have this issue to the same extent, although some people argue pellets are even better in this regard. I've been ...

Re: feeding bettas freeze dried food

I personally don't have any issues with freeze dried foods as long as the fish are willing to eat them.

I think what's most crucial is providing a varied diet that covers all the necessary nutrients for the fish. Ease of use is another key factor - live foods require more effort to set up or can ...

Re: choosing a suitable tank mate for an algae eater

Hey everyone, I'm having a nightmare with algae in my 10g tank with a male betta. I've tried everything to get it under control, but it's still covering the glass, sand, and decorations. I'm at my wit's end - short of taking the betta out and doing a full tank scrub, I'm stumped.

Are there any ...

Re: choosing a suitable tank mate for an algae eater

I'd advise against introducing more fish to your tank. Considering the territorial nature of bettas and the limited space, it's a challenging environment for tankmates.

However, you might find success with some invertebrates. I've had positive experiences with shrimp and snails in my own betta ...

Re: Daily water changes in a 10g sps tank: sufficient maintenance?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm not going to reply to each comment individually, it's midnight and I'm in the middle of chopping firewood. JP, I'd really appreciate it if you could share that article with me. I've spent a small fortune on equipment in the past, but this time I'm trying to keep ...

Re: Daily water changes in a 10g sps tank: sufficient maintenance?

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm still a bit hesitant on the dosing front since I've got zero experience, so I'll do some research before adding any SPS. Trying to keep costs down with this nano, don't wanna blow another hole in my wallet like last time. Loving the KISS principle, LuminAxe, that nano ...

Re: Daily water changes in a 10g sps tank: sufficient maintenance?

Rapidon, my LFS's display tank is spot on, and they make their own saltwater, so I'm assuming their parameters are perfect. If I'm slowly trickling in a gallon of their water daily while removing a gallon, wouldn't my parameters be pretty close to the new water? Plus, with the slow dripper, it's ...

Daily water changes in a 10g sps tank: sufficient maintenance?

Hey all, back in the game after a 5-6 year break and I'm stoked to be diving in again with a bit more financial freedom. So, I was at a car park and some random dude just handed me a free 10g nano - guess you could say it was meant to be, haha. I've got the basics down on low-maintenance coral care ...

Re: about lumpfish eggs

Yeah, the male lumpfish have this crazy colour variation going on - red, green, blue, the works. Not entirely sure what's behind it, possibly to attract a mate, but honestly, it's still a mystery. They seem to be a real crowd-pleaser, especially the smaller ones. And you know what's really annoying ...
