Re: betta fish for beginners

Hi everyone, I've been convinced it's best to rehome my 5 Cherry Barbs from my 30 litre Biorb, as they're thriving with zero ammonia and nitrite readings. Now I'm considering a Male Betta, but I have a few concerns.

Looking at my current tank decor, I'm worried it might be too sharp for a male ...

When plants are thriving

I've been thinking, we spend a lot of time discussing our fish's health, but what about our plants? It's easy to overlook their progress, given how slow they grow and our daily exposure to them. I've found taking a series of photos to be incredibly helpful in tracking their development - it's ...

Re: is my betta losing scales or color?

I'm inclined to think that Harry's red spot might be an area where he's lost some scales, possibly from bumping into something in the tank. Assuming he's a solo occupant, I'd recommend adding some aquarium salt to the water, just to be cautious, and keep a close eye on him for any further changes.

Re: Why certain plants cause high ammonia levels

I've got a pretty good plant selection going on - 5 java ferns, 4 anubias coffeefolia, loads of java moss, and a bunch of red root floaters. Now I'm wondering, can they handle ammonia levels of 3ppm while the tank's cycling?

One significant issue is people often thoroughly research the fish ...

Only the floaters will be pulling their weight during the cycling ...

Re: Help me identify my new houseplant

I've always thought of them as "spider plants" due to those offshoots they produce when mature - you can easily pot them and grow more. They make lovely, simple gifts when potted nicely. I've also seen them look great in hanging baskets. To be honest, I'm not too familiar with their specific light ...

Re: Help me identify my new houseplant

Looks like a dead ringer for Chlorophytum Bichetii to me, commonly sold as 'Wheat Plant' here in the UK. Not an aquatic plant by any stretch, so definitely not suitable for submersion.

Agreed. It's one of those plants that complements other aquarium plants so well, which is probably why it's ...
