I agree with duneshell. Salt's a tool, not a cure-all. I've used it in my 30 gallon with Mollies, but even they can tolerate it better than most plants. Maybe try a quarantine tank for salt treatments if your main tank has sensitive plants.

Spare heater. Had one die at 3 AM in winter and lost half my stock before I could replace it. Now I keep a backup in the closet. Also, get a timer for your lights unless you wanna grow algae like it's your job.
Big mood on the timer. Forgot mine once and came back to a tank that looked like pea ...

A betta with albinism
I just got an albino halfmoon doubletail male betta, and I'm curious about something. He's got those striking red eyes - I'm pretty sure he's blind, by the way. There's no pigment or iridescence on his body or fins. So, I was wondering: are albino bettas really that rare?
