Salt? More like 'nah' unless you're running a marine tank. Freshwater fish didn't evolve to swim in brine, and your plants will throw a fit. But hey, if you're into crispy leaves and stressed fish, go for it.

I saw this article about star grass and thought I'd share. Apparently it's a pretty low maintenance plant, only needs medium to low lighting. It's also not too picky about water flow. I'd love to get some for my tank, that's why I'm asking if anyone's willing to trade.

I'm thinking pool filter sand might be a good option for you, it's designed to allow for good water flow. If you removed some of your current substrate and replaced it with a mix of pool filter sand and crushed flint, that might help with oxygen exchange and give your crinum the nutrients it needs ...

I've got a bulb-type root system on my hands with this Crinum Calamistratum, so it sends off those side runners that can be clipped and used to propagate new plants - pretty handy.
