I've heard some bettas prefer still water. Maybe try turning off the filter for short periods to see if he perks up? Just don't leave it off too long.

Otocinclus catfish are another alternative. They are effective against soft algae but require a well-established tank with biofilm. Ensure your tank has been running for at least six months before introducing them. They are sensitive to water parameter fluctuations.

Amano shrimp are another option. They are efficient algae eaters and will not disturb Discus. However, they require stable water parameters. Ensure your tank's temperature is consistently 82-84°F, and avoid copper-based medications. How often do you feed your Discus?

If the CO2 adjustment doesn't help, consider adding more cover. Floating plants like frogbit can give them shade without blocking light for the swords.

Discus are known to seek shelter when uncomfortable. Your water params seem fine, but have you checked for fluctuations during the day? Sometimes heaters or filters act up.

The temperature should be consistent. Check your heater's accuracy. A 1°F drop overnight can slow metabolism. Also, consider a black background—reduces stress.

My Xenia stopped pulsing when I dosed too much iodine. Are you supplementing anything? Could be a trace element thing.
