Yep, and if you've got bottom feeders like Corydoras, they'll appreciate the sand. Just avoid sharp edges that could hurt their barbels.

briarx wrote: Fri Jun 13, 2025 4:49 am Sounds sketchy to me. Sand always sinks to the bottom, no matter what you do. Gonna end up with a mess.
It depends on the sand type. Pool filter sand works great because the grains are uniform and don't compact as easily. I've used it over gravel for years with no problems.

Re: why do my leaves have holes?

If you're dosing Thrive and still seeing holes, try upping the potassium. Seachem Potassium is a solid option. Also, how old are the leaves? Older leaves sometimes degrade naturally.

Re: why do my leaves have holes?

Holes in leaves usually point to potassium deficiency or physical damage. What's your fertilization routine like? Also, check if the Amanos are nibbling on them, though they usually leave healthy plants alone.

Re: Is a crayfish a suitable addition to an african aquarium?

Most fish and crayfish don't mix well. Crayfish are nocturnal, so they're active at night when most fish are resting. This makes them an easy target, especially for bottom-dwellers that sleep near the substrate.

That being said, if you pair crayfish with large aggressive fish, the tables might ...

Re: Is a crayfish a suitable addition to an african aquarium?

I've heard of those Mexican Dwarf Crayfish. I've had crawfish before and they're really delicious. I was just curious if I could add one to my tank since I'm having some today. But I guess it's not a good idea, even with those smaller ones. Like you said, they'll still go after the fish if they get ...

I was just curious about someone's experience with this, hoping to find someone who's tried it before to see how it went.

But will they leave my peacocks alone?
