Thanks, man. I'll grab the API kit. Doing water changes every week, but only like 10%. Should I bump it up?

How to test water parameters for Bettas

What's the best way to test water params for my betta? Got a new tank, 5 gallons, with a sponge filter and heater set to 78. Not sure if the test strips are cutting it.

Re: finding suitable mates for a krib tank

i think 64l is a bit small for kribs, personally. my pair's in a 125l and they basically own the bottom, apart from my three decent-sized plecs. angels are the only other fish i have in there, works pretty well.

Yeah, activated carbon is clutch. Also, maybe throw in some extra water changes for the first week just to be safe. Better safe than sorry, right?

Re: is kribs ready to breed?

No eggs now, must've eaten them. She was out and about with the male this morning, so I checked mid afternoon and they're gone. Both are showing signs of trying again though, so fingers crossed.

Re: is kribs ready to breed?

theres 2 larger Angels & 2 small, the small ones keep their distance. The kribs are fully grown but the Angels steer clear, soon as they see the female they're off.

Re: is kribs ready to breed?

She's got a real visual thing going on, always on the lookout and super protective - male gets chased off more often than not. One glance at the Angels and they're off, they've sussed her out already.

Re: is kribs ready to breed?

3ft x 1.5ft, 2 big ones, 2 small ones - they're chillin' in the planted corner for now, still getting used to the new space. The krib cave is out in the open, near the filter. Male's on lookout duty, but he's a soft touch - it's the female who's a handful.
