Re: Acropora not coloring up, any tips?
Yo, sounds like your lighting might be the issue. Acros need that sweet spot of PAR, around 250-350. You gotta ramp it up slowly though, or they'll bleach. Also, check your alk stability. If it's bouncing around, they'll stay dull.
Agreed. Alk swings are a killer. What's your alkalinity sitting ...

Vallisneria - I just can't help but recommend it, its hardiness and beauty in the right conditions are truly impressive.

Growing and caring for jungle vallisneria
G'day everyone
Hope you're all doing alright?!
I've had to cull a heap of jungle Val from my tank and I'm looking for someone in the Brisbane area who might be interested. They're healthy and hardy, just a heads up that there might be some snails in there.

Re: Comparing jungle val to italian val
I've got jungle Val and it's a beast - I've seen it hit over a metre in length when I've been lax with trimming. It's a hardy plant, no question, and beautiful to boot. Once it's settled in and happy, it'll start sending out runners like crazy, which can quickly take over if you're not on top of ...

Re: different mosses
I've got some experience with christmas moss in my SE Asia tank - it's a great choice. I prefer the look of it to java moss, it's got a unique form. My java moss in the South America tank mostly just creeps along the driftwood, rarely getting bushy and never as tall as some others. There are plenty ...

Re: different mosses
Here's a prime example of growth. Setup my shrimp tank about 2 months ago, now look at it.

Re: different mosses
I've had great luck with Java moss - it's super hardy and does amazingly well in low light. I picked up a decent-sized ball about 6 months ago, and although it was pretty dead in the middle, I salvaged what I could and attached it to some driftwoods in my tanks. Fast forward to now, and I've got so ...
