Re: information on percula clownfish

I started with a single clown in a smaller tank, 10 gallons to be exact, and at the time I thought it was doing alright, but looking back I can see it wasn't truly happy. Fast forward to now, I've got three in a 29-gallon setup and the difference is like night and day - they're genuinely thriving.

Re: lionfish are dead

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, I can relate since I've lost a dwarf lion before and I know how special they can be. I'm currently keeping a volitans. I'd like to know more about your lion, what kind was it and what was its diet like? I recall having a fuzzy dwarf for over a year, but I ...

Re: What Causes Color Loss in SPS?

Yo, sounds like your nutrients are too low. SPS need some nitrates and phosphates to keep their colors poppin'. Try bumping nitrates to 5 ppm and phosphates to 0.03 ppm. Also, check your alk, bro. If it's swinging, that'll mess with your corals big time.

Light adaptation period for lps corals

Everything seems off. All the LPS corals I've added - elegance, torch, and bubble corals - were fully open for the first two-three days, but then they started to recede:

1. Elegance coral: fully retracted for the past 5 days
2. Bubble coral: not fully open, very small bubbles
3. Torch coral ...

Re: Identifying a brain coral (favites) and the substance it's releasing

It's possible that the white things you're seeing are Mesenterial Filaments, which can be used as a defense mechanism, but stress is also a likely cause. Just keep a close eye on it to be safe. Good luck.

So that's a normal thing, I guess. I used to think it was pests, but how could every brain ...

Identifying a brain coral (favites) and the substance it's releasing

Can anyone ID this brain coral for me? It looks a bit weird with those bug-like things coming out of its mouth - what are those things?

Re: Is a marine fish suitable for this tank?

That's a tiny tank you've got there. It's definitely nano territory. We've got a section dedicated to Lynxo marine tanks, I'd recommend checking that out. Honestly, I think it's too small for coflakes. You might consider live sand or crushed coflakes instead, paired with some live rock. If you're ...

Honestly, it's sustainable in captivity? That's great to hear, I've always thought gonipora corals were doomed in tanks. Guess I need to rethink my stance on this.

Re: Identify this flowerpot coral

Yeah, I see them around, not really my thing though.

So basically I've got this info that it's just a red morph of Gonipora, and it's still pretty tough to keep alive in captivity, right? No difference in survival rate compared to the common green ones.

I just get the feeling this guy is ...

Identify this flowerpot coral

Somebody's been hyping up this pricey new species in the Chinese market, claiming it's a breeze to care for and breed. I'm talking "easy care, easy reproduce" - sounds too good to be true. Then I saw this guy boasting about his own, saying it went from 30 heads to 100 heads... I'm not buying it ...
