Re: Discus tank plant fertilizer safe?
Thanks for the tips, y'all. I'll try halving the dose and keep an eye on 'em. Substrate is Eco-Complete, and I feed twice daily, mostly frozen bloodworms and pellets.

Discus tank plant fertilizer safe?
I've got a 75 gallon planted tank with 6 Discus, all around 4 inches. Been using Seachem Flourish but worried it might mess with their sensitive nature. Anyone got experience with this? My water's at 84F, pH 6.8, and I do 30% changes twice a week.

Re: discus tank driftwood benefits
Thanks for the advice, everyone. Gonna pick up some Malaysian driftwood this weekend and give it a shot. I'll boil it first and maybe soak it for a few days to cut down on the tannins. Appreciate the tips!

discus tank driftwood benefits
Been thinking about adding driftwood to my 75-gallon Discus tank. Heard it's good for them but wanna know if it's worth the hassle. My tank's got sand substrate, a Fluval 407 canister, and a bunch of Amazon swords. Water's at 84°F, pH around 6.8. Anyone got experience with driftwood and Discus?

Re: Discus tank decor safety tips
Yo, don't forget about weight! Some decor can topple if they swim near it. I anchor my wood with slate bases. Also, check for loose bits that could break off.

Yo, same boat here. How often do y'all test the water? I've been doing it weekly but my buddy says it's overkill. Also, what's the deal with salt? Heard mixed things.

Re: discus tank heater placement tips
Heaters on opposite sides, but make sure they're not too close to the glass. Had one crack once, sketchy vibe. You got any tankmates with your Discus?

Re: discus breeding pair not spawning
Sounds like your water params are solid. Have you checked the male's behavior? Sometimes they need a bit more time to get comfortable. Also, try upping the water changes to 30% daily, it can trigger spawning. What's your lighting schedule like?
Thanks, I'll try the water changes. Lights are on ...

discus breeding pair not spawning
My discus pair have been hanging out in their corner for weeks but no spawning action. Tank's a 55 gal, temp at 84F, pH 6.5, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate. They're about 2 years old, fed beef heart mix twice daily. Any ideas why they're not getting busy?

Re: Discus color strains comparison
Yeah, man, take it slow with the Reds. They're worth the effort, though. My tank's got a mix of strains now, and the Reds are the stars. Just don't freak out if they hide for a few days after adding them. They'll come around.
