Pairing kribs

Hey everyone, so it's been exactly 2 weeks since I got my kribensis - 2 females and 1 male. Initially, there was some aggression but they've since chilled out. I'm pretty sure I've got a pair now - the female's this gorgeous bright cherry red and she swims by the male, who's curling up and vibrating ...

The first one's a poor pic, but I'm pretty sure it's female now, she's developed a bright cherry pink belly and it's bigger than the males.

Re: kribensis breeding experiences?

The male kribs' dorsal fin usually has a sharp point at the end. Sounds like you've got the sexing right, one male and two females. To breed them, just keep 'em well fed and do regular water changes, shouldn't be a problem. I've had a good few successful breeding attempts with minimal trouble. I ...

kribensis breeding experiences?

Just picked up 3 kribs today and I'm pretty sure I've got 1 male and 2 females. The one I think is male has a level dorsal fin and a smaller abdomen, whereas the two females have a bigger belly. One of them has a more pronounced cherry pink spot than the other. Can anyone confirm my sexing attempt ...

Is the marbled peacock a rare species?

Just picked up some new additions and I'm really stoked about this one - think it might be a marbled peacock, just wanted some confirmation?

behavior of female kribensis

Hey everyone, just got 3 kribensis yesterday - 1 male and 2 females. The females both have nice big red/pink bellies. But here's the thing, the one that's more pink is being super aggressive to everything in the tank. Meanwhile the male and the other female are getting along just fine. Anyone know ...

kribs won't pair

I've had 3 kribensis for nearly 2 weeks now - 1 male and 2 females. The dominant female is marking the other 2 and digging under an ornament. The other female is dancing in front of the male, but he doesn't seem interested. I'm a bit puzzled, why won't they pair off?

Re: Observations of kribensis behaviour

Cichlids can be a handful, but they usually settle down if the ones being bullied have a safe spot to retreat to. I'm curious, what's the layout of your tank like? Having a few caves around can really help the Kribs establish their own territories. That "dance" you mentioned can be a sign of ...

Observations of kribensis behaviour

I've posted on here a few times about kribs and I'm just wondering if they calm down after a few days in a new tank. I've got 3 kribs, 2 females and 1 male, and to be honest, the one female is a right bully, constantly chasing the other two off. However, I did notice something interesting the other ...
