Re: White bubbles on tank surface

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'll try cleaning the filter and maybe cut back on feeding for a bit. Appreciate the help!

White bubbles on tank surface

Noticed a bunch of white bubbles forming on the surface of my 20 gallon tank. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate. Running a sponge filter and a HOB. Any ideas what's causing this?

Re: nitrate spikes in coral tank issues

I'd double-check your bio-load. How many fish are in there? Tangs and anthias are nitrate factories if you're overstocked.

Re: plants that work with tetras

Don't forget about mosses! Java Moss or Christmas Moss tied to wood or rocks is perfect for Tetras. It gives them places to hide and spawn. Plus, it's low maintenance and grows in almost any conditions. My Tetras are always hanging out in the moss.

Re: Betta's fins and colors are fading.

Honestly, 2 gallons just isn't enough for a betta. I'd recommend doing at least 50% daily water changes with dechlorinated water, but given the tank's size, I'd personally do 80% until your betta's health improves. Also, make sure the temp of the replacement water matches the tank's temp.

If you're ...

goldminer's right, I need to answer those questions to get the best help for Baloo. Reducing stress is key for his recovery, so I'll do my best to provide all the info.

First, I cycled the tank with just water changes and no fish for a week or so, I didn't do a full cycle with media and all that ...

Re: Feeling overwhelmed with information, where do i start?

Hiya Barry. Love the new setup so far. I'm actually a big fan of buying plants online in the UK, especially if you're after something a bit more unusual. I've had to go online for all my floating plants, and I've found that plants in vitro are really popular here - they're invertebrate safe and ...

That's duckweed, Lyuba. Grows incredibly fast, barely any effort needed. It'll cover the top of your tank in no time. Looks nice, in my opinion.

I think feeding nano fish twice a day can be beneficial, but you need to keep the meals small. They should be able to consume the food quickly ...

Re: Betta's dorsal fin disappeared after three days

It's likely fin rot, which is pretty common in bettas. You've got a couple of options - you could try to exchange him at the LFS, or attempt to treat it with medication and regular water changes, just be sure to follow the instructions on the meds.

Re: hello, i'm new and have some questions

I noticed that if you test for ammonia after dechlorinating, you might find some in the water. That's because dechlorinators convert chloramine into ammonia. Another way to get an ammonia source is by putting a small piece of cooked, non-oily fish into the tank and letting it break down.

Your tank ...
