Re: He approved!
It's always a relief when they finally get along. Are you using any specific food to bond them? I've heard live brine shrimp can be a peace offering.

Re: Raising ph levels safely
I'll definitely check out the Rift Lake conditioner, I'm pretty sure I saw it somewhere, just can't recall if it was at the store or when I was browsing on Zorchzon.

Re: Raising ph levels safely
Colin, just to clarify, I don't have any rams in my tank, I'm actually planning on getting some in the future for a different tank. I've moved my Africans to a new 36 bow front and so far, they seem to be loving it - the new substrate with sand, gravel, and shells is a hit. As for the pH, it's ...

Re: Raising ph levels safely
Hey guys, sorry for the delay, got caught up in the 4th of July celebrations. I didn't have a test for GH or KH, but I plan to grab one this week when I'm out getting supplies. I had picked up the API master kit last time I was there, but I didn't realize I needed the others since my previous fish ...

Raising ph levels safely
Hey guys, so I've got my cichlids waiting to move into their new 20g home and last night was water change night. I took my readings beforehand and noticed my nitrates were a bit high, plus I saw a trace of nitrite. So I decided to do a pretty much full tank change - I was planning to switch from ...

Re: Can anyone help identify my cichlids?
I'm starting to think, what if that mystery fish is a hybrid? I mean, I just can't seem to find anything that matches his coloring, stripe pattern, or even head shape - he's really one of a kind. And despite being around the kenyi, he holds his own pretty well, which is pretty cool.

Re: Can anyone help identify my cichlids?
I was really hoping for rams, I thought they'd be a better fit since they're not as aggressive, but these African cichlids stole my heart, and my son's. Plus, they were a bit cheaper, which is a huge bonus considering all the money I've spent lately. If I can find some rams or less aggressive fish ...

Re: Can anyone help identify my cichlids?
I'm still stumped on the mystery guy, but I checked again and no dip in the head. I also remembered the shop had a cichlid with yellow and black horizontal lines, so I'm thinking that's a no-go for me. I was browsing online and the zebras don't really resemble my guy, so I'm back to square one. I ...

Re: Can anyone help identify my cichlids?
Colin, that's genius - I'm loving the idea of double-tier stands, and I'm definitely considering it. I'm still learning, but it seems I've got a knack for picking the feisty ones. I'm a bit curious, though - should I be worried about the acei? I've read they're generally more chill than the kenyi ...
