Re: Getting new fish to eat

Sounds like stress was the culprit, but glad to hear they're chomping down now. You can try Seachem Garlic, soak their food in it - it helps soften it up and they love the smell and taste of garlic. Plus, it's actually good for them.

Re: Getting new fish to eat

I also had some issues with my German Blues and food size. Instead of buying smaller pellets, I decided to mix things up with beef heart and brine shrimp - they love it. Now, they get one meal of each once a week, Sundays and Wednesdays. Mondays and Thursdays are pretty much fasting days, but I do ...

Re: can bubble corals handle high flow?

Mine took about 3 days to open fully after I moved it. Patience is key.

Re: can bubble corals handle high flow?

Mine did the same thing when I put it near the wavemaker. Moved it to the sandbed and it's way happier now. Maybe try that?

Re: photos of terracotta caves in the aquarium

I've had great success with terracotta pots in my tanks - they're a hobbyist's best friend, if you ask me. Affordable, versatile, and my bettas adore them. I like to add a bit of flair by filling the pots with substrate and planting some greens, so it looks like the plants are spilling out.

Re: help me identify my fish species

The bright yellow one on the right, I'm pretty sure that's a yellow lab. Then the one right below it, that's probably an electric blue. You know, you'd likely find these in the "assorted" section at a local fish store. That's about all I can help with, sorry.

Re: beach stones

Using beach stones can be a bit tricky. Porous stones can cause problems when they're put in a freshwater tank, the marine salt gets in and it can be an issue. It's especially a problem with wood, the salt just lingers. I'm not sure if it's a big deal for an African cichlid tank, but for a South ...

Re: betta experiences with small floating logs

My betta's experience with the Zoomed Betta leaf hammock was pretty underwhelming - he won't even give it a second glance. I actually tried it out with three of my other fish, but none of them showed any interest in it either.

On the other hand, I've had some success with fake logs that have ...

Re: Kribensis behavior inquiry

I think you meant burrowing, right. I was wondering if you'd borrowed some kribs from a friend or something.

Anyway, from what I know, this behavior is usually a sign that they're getting ready to mate. I've had my kribs for a while now, and I've noticed they do this before spawning.

Do all your ...

Re: setting up a 27 gallon cichlid tank

I get the overstocking thing, but I'm still worried about stunting - I've never had any experience with these fish before.
