I'm setting up a 180-liter tank, roughly 90 x 40 x 50 cm, and I'm leaning towards an African-themed setup.
I've been researching this potential stocking list - would it work in a tank this size, considering both bioload and compatibility?
I'm thinking 8-10 upside-down catfish, syno nigriventris, 4-6 ...

Re: Testing for stray voltage in aquarium
Yo, that's sketchy af. My betta was acting weird too, turns out my cheapo heater was leaking voltage. Switched to a Cobalt and it's all good now. Gonna check my other tanks just in case. You got any grounding probes? They're like $10 and can help if you can't fix the source right away ...

Re: Testing for stray voltage in aquarium
Stray voltage can definitely mess with your fish. I use a multimeter to check for it. Just set it to AC voltage, stick one probe in the water, and ground the other. If you get a reading above 0.5V, it's worth investigating. Also, check your heater and pump for leaks. Had a similar issue last year ...

Agreed on the kribensis, I think they'd do really well in a tank that size.

Going with a pair sounds like the way to go. When they spawn, they'll be super protective of their young and chase off anything that gets too close.

Re: about african chilids
You're already dealing with seveflake fish that'll need an upgrade soon. Focus on giving them the best care before adding new ones to the mix.

Lovely setup you've got there, hutmog. Mixing the lakes can be a challenge, but it sounds like you've done a great job. The fact that all your fish are locally bred and happy is a big plus. I'd love to take a look at your journal, thanks for sharing the link.

Re: Hammer coral showing skeleton
General questions on Euphyllia - once any head begins to show tissue separation, is that the beginning of the end? I've had my share of struggles with these corals and I'm curious if anyone's been able to save a detaching head and nurse it back to health.
After mine separated, it was a lost ...

Re: are my fish displaying courtship behavior?
So now that you've confirmed they're mating, what's the plan for the potential fry?
