Re: Is my betta sick?

I've had this happen to me before, not just with this betta, but my previous ones too - they all started showing signs of illness around the 9-month mark. I do my weekly water changes, feed a varied diet, test my water, treat diseases as advised, and maintain proper tank conditions. It's frustrating ...

Re: Is my betta sick?

I'm freaking out - I just went to feed him this morning and he's just lying at the bottom of the tank, breathing really hard and not even trying to swim. I've moved him up to his floating log so he can get to the air easily, but I'm seriously worried. He moves a bit when I open the tank, but then ...

Re: Is my betta sick?

I've had him for a while now. What I'm really trying to figure out is what's going on with his health. You asked about the pH, GH, and KH - I can check those for you. To be honest, I haven't checked them recently but I can give you the readings from my last water test.

I've had him for around 9 ...

To clarify, my water readings were all good - zero ammonia and nitrite, and nitrates were around 5 ppm.

Is my betta sick?

I'm back again, and I'm still stumped about my betta's issues. He's in a 16-gallon planted tank with two assassin snails as his tankmates, and no other fish. Last I checked, the temperature was 78, and all water conditions were within range. His diet consists of a mix of Aqueon pellets, freeze-dried ...

Feeding schedule for brain corals

Got a new Brain Coral last week, but it's not opening up much. How often should I feed it? Tank's a 40g breeder, running at 78F, salinity 1.025. Lights are AI Prime HDs, 10 hours a day.

Re: A skin lesion concern

I'm at my wit's end, I've done the daily 75% water changes for a week and doubled the salt after 48 hours but my poor betta is looking worse. His fins are more tattered now and the red mark on his Sprig has spread to the other side. I've attached a picture, you can see the top fin is losing color ...

Re: A skin lesion concern

I'm going to take a guess here, but it looks like there's a lot of excess mucous covering your betta, which is usually a sign of something in the water irritating him or maybe an external protozoan infection like Costia, Chilodonella or Trichodina. I've heard that flour can treat these kinds of ...
