You can also consider Mo Bettas or BettaWorld, I've heard they're reputable sources for bettas.

Re: changing substrate in an established aquarium
Hi everyone, I'm new here.
I've had my 10 gallon tank for almost a year now, with a betta in it. I think I've got a good grasp on taking care of him - he's still doing well. My tank's established, with 0 ppm ammonia and nitrites, and 10 ppm nitrates. It's mainly got artificial decorations and ...

Re: changing substrate in an established aquarium
To maintain your beneficial bacteria, I'd suggest putting some of the old substrate in a panty hose and leaving it in the tank, on top of the new sand. This way, the bacteria can transition smoothly. Just be sure to keep the hose in tank water when you switch to sand. You can remove it after about ...

Re: Is my white cellophane betta growing red markings?
I completely agree with sSjey, large water changes are essential to keep ammonia levels under control. Daily changes of 50-70% should be done to ensure the health of your betta. To speed up the cycling process, I recommend getting a bottle of Tetra Safe Start+ and adding it directly to the filter ...

Re: Is my white cellophane betta growing red markings?
Hi tastyflavours, I've seen some Armageddon marked betas get red spots on their tails and fins, but not usually on their face - they do have that cellophane look though. It's possible this could be a water quality issue. Are you familiar with the nitrogen cycle, and is your tank cycled? What are ...

Re: A home for my betta fish
My goodness, these tanks are stunning.
I'm absolutely in love with Tank #2 - it's my top pick.
Tank #1 is flawless, I wouldn't change a thing.
Tank #2 is perfect as well, you've nailed it.
Tank #3 is also perfect, great job.
The blue gravel in Tank #4 doesn't quite match the live plants ...

Re: assistance with a friend's betta
Considering his age, it's likely he's nearing the end. Keep his water clean and add some aquarium salt for comfort. Focus on making his remaining time happy. If he stops eating, that's when you'll know it's time to consider euthanizing him. Once they start going downhill, it usually doesn't take long.

They both look alright to me, but I do agree with essjay about the alternanthera lilacina - personally, I've never had much luck getting it to grow.
