Re: about sharks
The wait's finally over, somewhat. Got a few pics of my 330gallon grow out system to share. Only thing, just found out I don't have my digital camera on me. So, all I've got for now are pics of the tank itself, no sharks. Hopefully, these'll hold you guys over for a bit, haha.

Re: about sharks
Correct, the Smoothhounds need a system around 2,500 gallons. The Leopards need a system around 7,000 gallons. Those ponds are in the planning construction phase, I am only growing the pups right now. I'll post pictures when I get back from a camping trip tomorrow.

Re: about sharks
No worries at all, happy to help out. Right now I'm working with Atlantic Smoothhounds and Leopard Sharks, they're my main focus.

Re: about sharks
Hey,
I'm not sure how many folks here keep Elasmobranches in their home tanks, but I do, so I'll try to help you out. First off, grab the book "Aquarium Sharks & Rays" by Scott Micheal – it's a solid resource for anyone looking to get into keeping sharks and rays.
Now, I gotta break it to you, but ...

Salt's sketchy, man. My buddy tried it in his 10 gallon and his Neon Tetras didn't take it well. Stick to the basics unless you've got a real problem.

Re: nitrate spikes in coral tank issues
Nah, dead stuff usually spikes ammonia first. Nitrates come later. But good thought, man.

Re: Are these coral heads worth fragging
I'd try to frag the lower heads and then slowly reacclimate them to your tank's lighting.

Re: Frogspawn, hammer, and gonipora: water flow and lighting preferences
My experience with a hammer coral is that it seems to thrive in low to medium flow. I've placed mine on the sand in a front corner of the tank, and it's doing great there. I have pretty high flow up top with two powerheads and another pump on low, but down low it's a lot calmer.

Re: Hammer corals not extending
My branching hammers didn't take to the LEDs at first either. Had to move them to a spot with lower PAR reading. Took about 3-4 days for them to come around.
