Re: best pH for soft corals

I'd stick with 8.2. It's what most reefers recommend, and it's worked for me. Just don't chase numbers too hard, or you'll drive yourself nuts.

Re: discus breeding pair separation

Thanks for the advice. I'll set up the 20-gallon tonight. Should I keep the lights dimmed?

discus breeding pair separation

My Discus pair started fighting after laying eggs. Should I separate them or let them work it out? Tank is 55 gallons, temp at 84F, pH 6.5, with sponge filter and driftwood. They've been together for 8 months.

Re: discus spawning cone diy ideas

Has anyone tried ceramic cones? I saw some at the store but wasn't sure if they'd work. My tank's 30 gallons, with a internal filter and gravel substrate. Temp's at 82°F, pH 6.6. I do weekly 25% changes.

Re: best beginner plants for hard water

I tried Cryptocoryne Wendtii in my hard water tank, and it's been growing slow but steady. Not as fast as others mentioned here, but it hasn't died either.
