Re: calcium reactor vs dosing pump

A calcium reactor's gonna give you more consistent levels, especially if you're running a mixed reef with SPS. I've used both, and the reactor's way better for heavy demand. Just make sure you dial in the CO2 right, or you'll mess with your pH.

Agreed! I switched to a reactor last year, and my ...

Re: Guppy lifespan concerns

What's your feeding routine like? Overfeeding can mess with water quality even if params look good. Also, are they getting enough variety in their diet? Mine thrive on flakes, frozen brine shrimp, and occasional veggies.

The plants are doing great, but I've been battling some algae lately. Thinking of adding more floaters to cut the light.

What's your setup?

I've been running a 55 gallon planted tank for about a year now, but I'm curious what setups others are rocking. What's your tank size, stocking, and favorite piece of equipment?

Re: Having trouble with betta clamped fins

Thanks for the suggestions. She's a solo occupant in the tank. I did remove all the plastic plants about two months ago, thinking maybe she was getting cut on them. Now it's just smooth aquarium-safe rocks for hiding spots.

Re: Having trouble with betta clamped fins

I do have a heater in the tank, that's not the issue. I've double-checked the temperature with two different thermometers, and it's consistently at 80 degrees. As for cleaning, I regularly vacuum or use a turkey baster to remove any uneaten food or waste.

Having trouble with betta clamped fins

I've been keeping fish for a while now, but I wouldn't call myself an expert. I've had my betta for about 6 months, and she's probably around a year old. She's been dealing with mild fin rot for 2 months, and despite my best efforts, it just won't fully heal. I've increased water changes, added salt ...

Re: betta injured during tank cleaning

Thanks for sharing your experience with your crowntail, it's reassuring to know that even with damaged fins, they can still thrive. I'm starting to think that my betta might not fully recover either, or it could be a really slow process. At least he seems happy and healthy otherwise, which is a big ...

betta injured during tank cleaning

I'm still stumped with my betta's injury. I've attached some pics for you to see. He's been in a 6.5 gallon tank by himself since I got him in December 2020 - I'm guessing he's around 9-12 months old now. I've had years of experience with fish and bettas, and I've successfully treated fin rot before ...
