Re: Ideal temperature range for Betta fish

76F is a bit low. They thrive at 78-82F. Lower temps slow their metabolism, making them prone to illness. What heater are you using? A adjustable one is best, so you can dial it in.

Agreed. I've seen bettas recover from fin rot just by raising the temp to 80F. Also, avoid placing the tank near ...

Re: setting up a 50g tank with two species

I think the common pleco should be rehomed, he's fine for now but he'll get massive, 2ft is a lot for a tank this size. Your tank looks great, though. Adding some slate stone or a rock system could give it a more natural look, what do you think?

Love the ornate, they're really something. Are all these fish from your collection?

Re: Can anyone identify this lake malawi cichlid?

If you google german red cichlid and browse through the images, you'll come across some that resemble the ones in question, though it's clear they're not purebred.

Re: Can anyone identify this lake malawi cichlid?

I came across this website, http/myemail.constantcontact.com/HUGE--and-the--H--is-silent-.html?soid=1104155438978&aid=iM7SKGuC0Vg, and the second fish looks a bit like the one they're calling a german red, seems a bit off to me though. Re: calming aquatic scenes

I'm curious, what's the specific Synodontis species in your tank, is it a Multipunctatus or an Ocellifer?

I've got a few different ones, but I'm really fond of the ones I've got - I think they're a great addition to the tank.

Re: calming aquatic scenes

Hey, what's the size of your tank and which synodontis species do you have in there. I'm really interested in learning more, I've got a 300 gallon tank coming soon and I'm trying to decide on some synodontis to stock it with. I was thinking of getting two euruptus and two angelicus, do you think ...
