They're going at it, displaying at each other - is this something to be worried about, or do male/female pairs do this too?
I'm getting a bit anxious, the new one seems to have a tiny dorsal spine, and I'm having trouble finding a good pic of a female to compare.

Re: How to improve the sex life of my mandarin
Thanks, I was hoping that was the case. My male was pretty thin when I first got him too, but he's filled out a bit since then - still not exactly plump, but he looks healthy at least.
I've also got a pair of Reidi in the same tank, by the way. We might've already discussed this about the ...

How to improve the sex life of my mandarin
I'm on the verge of releasing this mandarin into my tank, but I'm hoping someone can offer some insight beforehand. I know it's a long shot, but I'm willing to try. If it turns out to be a male, I'd rather not have to deal with the hassle of catching it and potentially putting my other mandarin at ...

Re: nitrate spikes in coral tank issues
Dude, your skimmer might need a tune-up. My Reef Octopus was acting up last month and nitrates crept up. Cleaned the venturi and it's back to pulling gunk like a champ.

Re: are sea horses a good idea?
I've got a small moray, about 18 inches, and a small volitan lion in my 55 gallon tank. I've always been drawn to the exotic, and I'd love to add a pair of sea horses to complete the setup. I know I've read that they're not compatible with other fish, but my moray is super docile - or maybe just ...

Re: Torch coral vs montipora coral
Thanks all for the input.
I decided to trim the monti to avoid any tissue damage and also gave the torch a bit more space.
Everything's looking good so far.

Torch coral vs montipora coral
Just got my new RW-8's and I'm loving the improved flow in my tank. My torch coral's really thriving now - the tentacles are extending about 30% longer, which is awesome. However, it's coming at a cost - the poor red monti is getting stung pretty badly. I've only recently had success with SPS since ...
