Re: keeping mbunas and peacocks
When it comes to the Kenyis, I'd suggest trying reverse trios or 2 to 3 pairs. This can help distribute the aggression among the males, and also means the females won't get constantly harassed by the males. Some species respond well to this setup, while others don't, so it's all about experimenting ...

Re: redesigning my aquarium with rock formations
Adding some algae to the mix will really complete the look, just need to let nature take its course and it'll be perfect.

Re: choosing the right fish for my aquarium
I've been going through your Malawi tank lists, and I've put together a list of fish I think would work well in my tank. Assuming they're compatible in your tanks, they should be fine in mine, right?
My tank's a 4ft, 1200w x 477d x 745h mm. Rock setup's not too big, see the picture below. Let me ...

Re: choosing the right fish for my aquarium
Synodontis Catfish are a great choice, they work really well with malawi's, as well as Bristlenose's. I've seen some set-ups that include clown loaches too, but I'm not too sure how well they do in the long run, considering they get quite large.
Out of the fish you mentioned earlier, I'd personally ...

Re: choosing the right fish for my aquarium
I'd personally just keep one or the other, mate. Mbuna or haps/peacocks, they're two different worlds. Most haps/peacocks are shy fish, so they may not colour up as well with mbuna around. Plus, they need different tank set-ups and stocking. It's just easier for you and the fish in the long run. If ...

Re: My new cichlid aquarium setup
You might want to give Java fern a shot, or Vallis - my cichlids wrecked the Vallis, but it's worth a try, right?

Re: A malawi stock list for my 120l tank
mate, 6-8ft is a great size for a tank, i've got a 225G 6ft myself and it's been a game changer. personally, i think some Pseudotropheus Saulosi would be the perfect choice for your 120L, then when you do upgrade to that bigger tank, you can have all the other larger species you're keen on keeping.

Re: A malawi stock list for my 120l tank
hi folks, the malawi bug's got me hooked. i've got a 120l tank, initially for my 50" tank, but it's too good to waste. i'm thinking of adding some river boulders and stocking it with malawis. given the tank's dimensions - 800mm long, 300 deep, and 500 high - are there any suitable species for this ...

Re: A malawi stock list for my 120l tank
I think the labs might outgrow a 120L tank, especially if they're going to be kept in small groups. I'm guessing your main tank isn't fully stocked yet? For a tank that size, Pseudotropheus Saulosi or some cynotilapia species might be a better fit.

Re: My first bee brood to keep
When doing daily water changes with the fry, consider storing some water in barrels if you have them, this way you can match the temp, ph, etc. as closely as possible. The fry are super sensitive but after the first few weeks of survival they'll start growing and become less temperamental.
