Re: A little guidance and identification
It seems I've got my work cut out for me. After doing some research, I'm starting to think I might've bitten off more than I can chew with these Mbuna's. The Metriaclima lombardoi, in particular, seem to have a pretty nasty reputation - extremely aggressive and territorial. I'm not sure if growing ...

Re: A little guidance and identification
Thanks so much for the detailed breakdown. I really appreciate the insight, especially since I'm still figuring things out.
At this size, I'm having trouble envisioning how to sex them - getting a good look at the vent area seems like it'll be a challenge. I do have a local fish store with a huge ...

A little guidance and identification
Hey everyone,
I've been out of the aquarium scene since I was a teenager, and to be honest, I didn't know the first thing about keeping fish back then. Now I'm trying to get things right this time around and fix some of the mistakes I made initially.
I'd really appreciate it if some of you could ...

Re: Considering selling my aquarium fish
Your tank and fish are lovely, nice setup you have.
I'd make an offer but I'm guessing I'm a bit too far away.

Re: initial stocking list suggestions
Tank's taking shape, got the fake rocks and pool sand in - it's looking alright. Thinking of mixing in some real ones, maybe some limestone to give it a bit more character.

Re: initial stocking list suggestions
I've had no issues keeping a group of ten labs in my main tank with aulonocara. I just stick to a single food type, like NLS or New Era Green, and both groups of fish do just fine.
I'm thinking the 12 fish I've got planned will be alright with the setup I've got, lots of hiding spots from the ...

Re: initial stocking list suggestions
I'm leaning towards sticking with the Electric Yellows and peacocks, but I'm still keen on adding a third species to the mix. Labs and haps seem like a solid combination, so I could just up the numbers if I couldn't find a suitable third species.

initial stocking list suggestions
Considering my 55 Gallon tank's dimensions (48" long x 14" deep x 18" tall) and its over filtration (2x Ehiem classic 2215, 328gph, almost 6x turnover), I'm deciding on a stocking list. I'll likely use hollow ceramic rocks with real rocks mixed in for hiding spots without much water displacement.
