Re: Can excess dechlorinator harm fish?

It's good to hear different experiences. I'll stick to the recommended dose to avoid any potential risks.

Re: discus fry feeding schedule guide

How often are you guys cleaning the tank with all that feeding? I'm paranoid about ammonia spikes. My fry are in a 15 gallon, sponge filter, and I'm doing 30% water changes every other day.

Re: maintaining calcium levels for corals

Stability's the name of the game. Folkster, once you get your Mg up, give it a week or two before tweaking calcium further. Patience pays off in this hobby.

380 ppm's a bit low for most SPS, gonna wanna aim for 420-450 ppm. What's your alkalinity at? If it's outta whack, no amount of calcium's gonna help. Also, check your magnesium, should be around 1300-1350 ppm to keep things stable.

Yep, magnesium's key. I had a similar problem last year, and ...

Re: Will be traveling monthly for work, could use some input?

Looking back on a decade of frequent travel, I've learned some valuable lessons about maintaining my discus tank. As someone who's spent a significant amount of time on the road, I've had to adapt and find ways to keep my fish thriving ...

Re: Beef Heart Mystery
I've found that my discus do exceptionally well on a high-quality dried food. For me, that's been VibraBites from Hikari. I've relied on them for all my fish, and they seem to thrive.

Re: Beef Heart Mystery

When we think about muscle, we typically consider the two main types - striated and non-striated. The striated variety is found in the more active parts of our bodies and in animals, it's the same. This is why the traditional cuts we eat, like the limbs and back, are leaner ...

Re: Beef Heart Mystery

I'm not aware of any reason why pork would be less healthy than beef, FishNe. The heart is just a muscle, after all. While it's true that pig hearts are smaller, that doesn't necessarily mean they're less nutritious. It's possible that the yield might be lower after removing ...
