Re: quarantine tank for corals
Dip those frags before they go in, no excuses. I use Bayer at 5ml per gallon for 15 minutes. Then inspect under bright light for flatworms or nudis. QT is your last line of defense, don't mess it up.
Yep, and if you see anything sketchy, hit 'em with a freshwater dip. Just match temp and pH, 3 ...

Re: quarantine tank for corals
Yo, fruitsy, you gotta match those params dead on, no sketchy shortcuts. I run a 10-gallon QT with a HOB filter, heater set to 78F, and dose alk daily to keep it steady. Smaller tanks swing faster, so test every day, no slacking.
Spot on. I'd add a cheap LED light too—nothing fancy, just enough ...

Re: free cichlids available
I'm shocked, not a single response. I'd have gladly taken them in if I wasn't all the way in the States. What's going on, folks? Don't we care about these fish? They're counting on us for a new home. Sent from my SM-G730V using Tapatalk

Re: Keeping a subwassertang with snails
This plant's a real gem, just needs some TLC from current or those little critters like shrimp/scuds to really make it shine. In still water, it can get a bit messy with aufuchs and detritus building up, but with some movement, it's perfect for shrimp and guppy fry.

Re: Keeping a subwassertang with snails
Research the life cycle of the snail species you're dealing with, that way you'll know when to expect eggs to hatch. Place an alternative food source, like a piece of carrot or cucumber, in the quarantine to lure them away from the subwassertang. I'd also recommend using water-change water instead ...

Re: Keeping a subwassertang with snails
When dipping plants, keep in mind that the chemicals will be absorbed and later released into your tank, so tread carefully - especially with subwassertang, it's incredibly permeable, like seaweed. Snails can be manually removed or I've found that keeping fisher1 loaches in my tanks does the trick ...

Peacocks are a great choice, they come in a range of colours, including red and orange. Sent from my SM-G730V using Tapatalk
