Help with stn and rtn (short-term and rapid tissue necrosis)
Re: Help with stn and rtn (short-term and rapid tissue necrosis)
I've found that using products like cuprisorb from seachem or poly filter pads can be really helpful in managing metal pollution. One thing I've learned is that making one change at a time and giving your tank some time to adjust is key to achieving stability.

Thanks for the advice guys, I've decided to take it on board and make a few changes. I'll be picking up some cuprisorb to help with any potential metal pollution, and I've also set up a small refuge in my sump with some algae to help stabilize things.
I've also decided to scale back my water changes to 5% once a week, see if that helps to calm things down a bit. To be honest, I'm trying to do the hardest thing of all - nothing. Last time I got STN, I panicked and did heaps of water changes, stripped everything and cleaned it all out, but it didn't seem to make a difference.
I'm hoping that by taking a more relaxed approach, everything will settle down and my tank will start to thrive again. I've got my fingers crossed, so wish me luck.

Just a quick update, been a week since I last posted. Haven't lost any other SPS corals, which is a relief. One thing I've noticed is my Monti's, Birdsnets frags and LPS are all looking significantly better, like a big turnaround. Most the Acro's are still recovering, but I didn't expect them to bounce back that quick, only been a week after removing the Bio-pellets. All parameters have been stable, including the phosphates, which are still at 0.25. Did a 5% water change last night, just trying to keep things steady now.
