I've been there too, trying to avoid that impulse buy. I'm currently learning the ropes with Duboisi and it's tough not to want to mix and match with other species. The temptation to add tankmates can be strong.

Altolamprologus compressiceps could be a good fit with Frontosas, pretty similar to Calvus. I wish you the best of luck, and I'm curious to see what tankmates you'll end up choosing for your Fronts. If you can, please share some photos of your setup.

I'll definitely keep you updated. Just got my tank up and running two days ago, so I've still got a ways to go. Need to get the tank cycled, and all that stuff. Probably be a month or so before it's established. Still not 100% on the fronts, to be honest. Might end up doing a different cichlid tank, or maybe even a fahaka puffer. Gonna keep researching different fish until the tank's cycled, then I'll post some pics once I make my decision.

Honestly, I think Frontosas are pretty straightforward to care for. They're just like any other large cichlid - they grow fast, get huge, but are actually pretty tough fish. The main thing to keep in mind is to give them the space they need to thrive, and treat them like you would any other big, peaceful fish. I really don't think they require any special treatment, just the basics - a large tank, proper water parameters, and good food. Simple as that.
