Yeah, same reaction here. I've been using Coral RX and MedicCoral - that's the Brightwell iodine-based dip. I keep new additions separate on a rack, but I don't have a dedicated QT for them. As for acclimation, I just do temp acclimation, never dripped.

I've heard of SeaChem Reef Dip, anyone have experience with that? Not knocking the Bayer dip method, just seems a bit... intense.

I've had great success with the Bayer dip too. Works like a charm on all my corals - SPS, LPS, and zoas. I recall a particularly stubborn infestation on a pricey gold torch frag a few months back. Hundreds of tiny bugs just covering it, and it was struggling. 10 minutes in the dip and they were gone for good. I was a bit hesitant at first, but now I'm a total convert - it's the only dip I use. Plus, the stuff is super concentrated, so it lasts a long time.

I've also noticed something interesting - during the Bayer dip, my acros seem to have amazing polyp extension.

I've had great results with Bayer on SPS and from what I've heard, LPS and softies can handle it too. Just to reiterate, Bayer is strictly for dipping, not for in-tank treatment like Interceptor.

If you're confident in your source, you might not need the Bayer dip, but since it's harmless to the coral, I don't see a reason not to do it every time. I personally use Revive for all my corals, and then Bayer if I suspect bugs or if the coral came from a questionable source. Revive is more of an antiseptic, so it's great for new frags to prevent infections and whatnot, but it won't get rid of bugs.
