I had a bi-colour angel, they're a pretty sensitive species, even for dwarf angels. Mine was a coflake fanatic and just suddenly kicked the bucket, had to return it to the shop. They often develop a taste for coflakes too. If I'm being honest, coflake beauties are probably the most reef-safe option in my opinion.

Rest of your list seems fine to me, but I think I'd go for the purple firefish - they're a bit bigger and more active.

I'm still interested in a dwarf angel, maybe a Cherub? They seem pretty cool. I'm also considering a purple firtideflow, I saw some in the shop the other day and they looked great.

Without the hawk, I think you're good to go. Hawkfish are just a headache, if you ask me. They can cause trouble with your shrimp, even snails. Territorial issues, pecking, nipping... it's just not worth it.

Yellow watchman goby is a great choice, lovely fish.

You haven't read my journal then. I agree that in a nano a hawk might not be the best bet. I have a lovely red hawk, he does eat my small snails, but he's not territorial or aggressive to other fish. He hasn't touched my shrimp either, I made sure to get big ones though.

That's a shame about the hawkfish, my mate's got one and it's a real showstopper, loads of character, my favourite fish in his tank by a mile.

I'm aiming for a peaceful setup, and to be honest, the hawkfish was my least favourite on the list, so I'm not too fussed about leaving it out.

I'm looking for small fish that are happy to hang out in the open. My clowns do, but only when it's feeding time, otherwise they're hiding around the rocks. I think royal grammas and purple firtideflows are hiders too. I want to be able to look at the tank and actually see some fish.

Dwarf angels seem like they swim around a lot. Which dwarf angel is best for a FO?
