Yep, tannins are magic. My betta's colors popped after adding leaves. Just gotta watch the pH if you've got soft water.

If all else fails, consider a parasite treatment. Sometimes internal parasites cause weird behavior even with perfect params. I've had luck with API General Cure.

Also, how old's your betta? Older fish naturally slow down. Mine's 3 and way less active than he used to be.
