It can lower KH a bit, but unless your water's super soft already, it's usually not a big deal. Just test regularly and adjust with crushed coral if needed. My KH dropped by about 1 degree when I added driftwood, but it stabilized after a few weeks.

Another perk of driftwood—it's great for biofilm growth, which Discus love to graze on. My fish are always picking at the wood, and it's helped with their coloration too. Just make sure you've got a good cleanup crew like Corydoras to handle any extra debris.
