For a sustainable shrimp colony with Discus, you'd need a heavily planted tank with ample hiding spots. I'd recommend a 100+ gallon setup with Amano or Bamboo shrimp. My 125 gallon has both, and the shrimp thrive. Water's at 84°F, pH 6.7, with a canister filter and weekly 20% water changes.

I've got a 90 gallon with Discus and a few Amano shrimp. The shrimp hide in the Anubias and driftwood, and the Discus don't bother them. Temp's at 82°F, and I use a sponge filter. It's doable if you've got the right setup.

Shrimp with Discus? Risky biz. My tank's 55 gallons, temp at 81°F, and the shrimp didn't last a week. Maybe if you've got a bigger tank and more plants, but otherwise, it's a no from me.

Thanks for all the input, everyone. Sounds like Amano shrimp might be the safest bet. I'll try adding a few and see how it goes. Appreciate the advice!
