Anyone tried breeding Discus in a smaller tank? I've got a 29-gallon lying around and wanna give it a shot.

A 29-gallon can work for a single pair, but you'll need to be extra diligent with water changes. Daily 20% changes are a must, and keep the temp at 86°F. The smaller volume means params swing faster, so test daily.

I'd stick to 55 gallons for breeding. More stable water, less stress on the fish. A 29 is sketchy unless you're super experienced.

The cost varies a lot based on where you live. In my area, a 55-gallon setup with mid-range gear runs about $600. Check multiple stores for deals.
