Why not use two smaller heaters? Redundancy helps if one fails. I run dual 50W heaters in my 20-gallon fry tank. Even if one dies, the other keeps things stable until I notice.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Gonna grab an Eheim Jager and a backup thermometer. Appreciate the tips on redundancy too—might add a second heater later.

Smart move. Let us know how it works out. Fry tanks can be tricky, but with steady temps, you'll see a big difference in growth rates.
