Quarantine's a must. I learned that the hard way. Lost half my stock once because I got lazy. How's your tap water's chlorine levels? Some cities use chloramine now, which doesn't gas off like chlorine.

Man, chloramine's the worst. You gotta use a conditioner that handles it, or you're just poisoning your fish. I use Seachem Prime. Works like a charm.

I just use the cheap conditioner from the pet store. Never had a problem. But again, I'm not keeping Discus. Maybe they're just picky.

Discus are sensitive, but it's worth the effort. They're stunning fish. Just takes some extra care with the water. Good luck with your tank, brooklynite.
