Glad the cleaner shrimp was there to lend a helping claw. That little guy's a hero. Got to give it to the shrimp, they're always there to clean up the mess.

Don't count your chickens just yet. Ever the pessimist, I've got to ask: "Do you think you've only got one of these Cirolanid Isopods?" I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I think you might have more. Either way, it's crucial that you closely monitor your tank, especially when it's dark - use a red torch, half hour to an hour after lights out. If there are more, they'll be out looking for a meal and your fish are their meals.

I found one of these on my sand last December in my tank I set up in September, then nothing until 2 weeks later when I found another - I was checking my tank each night between 8pm and 11pm every 15 minutes. One week later, I found another - thankfully it was my last.

How long has your tank been up and running? Have you recently introduced anything new into the tank? If these parasitic creatures need a live host to live and breed, they don't just appear in a tank for no reason - they're either introduced or come with the live rock.

Sorry to be Mr Doom and Gloom, and I hope I am totally wrong, but I have a bad feeling.

I'm probably right in thinking you're right, but as long as they're not bothering the fish, I'm not too fussed. The thing is, I wouldn't even know where to start getting rid of them if they're not attached to a fish. Honestly, the thought of one latching onto me is way more terrifying.

That thing is massive, you can't just yank it off or something?
Oh my god, that's horrific, I'm literally shaking just thinking about it, those things are monsters, I'm more scared of one latching onto me than anything else.
