Live rock does help, but it's not a fix-all. If CO2's the issue, rock won't solve it. Still, good call on alk.

Anyone tried those pH controllers? Heard they're sketchy, but if they work, it's less hassle than babysitting the tank all day.

pH controllers can work, but they're a band-aid. If your underlying params are unstable, the controller will just chase the problem. Fix the root cause first.
