I think it's a pretty straightforward conversion. Adding more smaller rocks for extra caves and keeping the two piles separate would create more territories for the rock dwellers. I'd place one rock pile at one end and the other about two-thirds down, which would allow you to split the shells between the two shellie species. Creating lots of sight breaks is key, so the fish can't always see each other - they use individual rocks as territory markers, you see. I did something similar in my 4.5 footer, and everyone gets along just fine.

Adding loads of Vallis to give the smaller fish some hiding spots would be a great idea, and it'll make the tank look more natural. They won't eat it, so that's a bonus. I've got a pair of Syno lucipinnis in my tank, and they're a joy to watch, playing follow the leader in and out of the rocks. Polli whites do look stunning in pictures, though I've never seen them in person.

I've got two six footers stacked on top of each other, but I'm not looking for a single species tank just yet, I'm still keen on a mix. I've already added more rock to the tank since the last pic, mainly had haps in here before so rockwork wasn't as important, but now I'm gonna create some sweet crevices for the new inhabitants. The two rock piles are about that distance apart now, and I'm thinking of placing the shells near the front or back, maybe close to the rock or a bit out.

Got a bit of a head start on the fish collection, an old mate of my dad's has a few Tanganyikans and has been kind enough to sort me out. Really keen on getting some Paracyprichromis blue neons, but 25 quid a fish is a bit steep if you ask me - anyone know of any other places I can get them from?

Only seen Paracyprichromis 'Blue Neon' once in a local fish shop, and that was last weekend when they had a massive delivery of Africans. They're selling them for £35 each, which is way too steep for me. I think they're one of those fish that don't travel too well, hence the high prices.

I did find a place with some really nice, healthy-looking Cyprichromis leptosoma 'Utinta' for a tenner each, but I'm keeping that one to myself, haha.

Was it in Sidcup that had the leptosoma? Found a couple of places that can get them for me - Mikes Rifts are quoting £25 and Living Reef had them on sale at 2 for £30, so I'll hold out for now as I'm in no rush, and another place is getting back to me. Don't think they're rare, just seems they're popular at the moment.
