An 8-month-old tank should have enough pods if you've been feeding phytoplankton. If not, consider adding a bottle of live pods. Also, what's your alkalinity level? Wrasses can be sensitive to swings.

Man, this thread's got me thinking I should grab one too. My tank's only 4 months old though. Maybe I'll wait. How often do you guys see these at your LFS?

They're not super common, but they pop up occasionally. I'd wait until your tank's at least 6 months old. Pod population needs time to establish.

Agreed with fruitsy. Also, if you're gonna get one, make sure your tankmates are peaceful. No aggressive fish or it'll stress out and hide all the time. What's your current stock list, Kairos9?
