If you keep the tank well-stocked, the risk of predation is relatively low, I'd say. There's actually a member on this board, Mr. Miagi, who successfully kept a dwarf lionfish with ocellaris clownfish, so it's definitely possible.

im not gonna risk gettin a dwarf lion, i like the smaller fish and clean up crews way too much, especially them flasher wrasses, they're pretty cool. i was thinkin of a valentini puffer but they eat clean up crew and i really want those too. just found a mimic saddle puffer on liveaquaria, it's like a filtideflow, has anyone kept one or know much about 'em?

Take a look at the link in my signature, 'Have You Overlooked These Fish?'. Just scroll down to the sections on puffers and lionfish, should give you some useful info.

I've had a Valentini in my reef setup and it's coexisted with cleaner shrimp, fanworms, anemones, and even coflakes, so I guess it's possible to make it work.

I've got a valentini in my reef, and it's living with cleaner shrimp, fanworms, anemones, and coflakes - go figure, seems to be working just fine.
