Just got my water sprite plants in the mail - 6 of them. Also got 5 frog bits, but sadly they arrived frozen solid. The water sprite is doing well so far, but 3 of the frog bits didn't make it. Here's a pic of my tank with the new plants - it's looking a bit rough at the moment. Planning to change the gravel to sand and add a bunch more plants to liven it up.

I'm fashionably late to the party, but I'll throw in my two cents: get a mix of floating plants - they're amazing. I'm particularly fond of Amazon frogbit and floating fern - they add a unique touch to any tank.
Your tank is looking great, though. The water sprite is thriving, and I love the natural vibe of the gravel - just be mindful of overfeeding to keep things balanced. As for the decor, I think it's time to retire those fake plants and let your fish be the stars of the show. Color should come from the beauty of nature, not plastic. Trust me on this one.

Late to the party, but here's my two cents: Get them all - I'm a fan of floating plants. Amazon frogbit and floating fern are favorites of mine.
Your tank's looking good, though - the water sprite is thriving. I'm a fan of the gravel (just watch out for overfeeding), and I hope you stick with the natural color. Those fake plants, though? Time to go. Color should come from the fish, not plastic. Just my opinion.
Glad to hear you're planning to ditch the fakes. And yeah, I can see why you'd need to switch to sand - those cory catfish need it. Quikrete Playsand, huh? Hope it gets in stock soon.

I'm stuck choosing a floating plant for my 20g tank and I need your help. Can't decide on just one, so I'll let you guys pick. Post your suggestions and I'll make a poll with all the options - the most voted one wins.
You've got time to switch to sand, don't stress about it. Corys will be fine over gravel for a bit, they just prefer sand for feeding and whatnot. They're adaptable, they'll swim over all sorts of substrates in the wild. Change it when you can, whether that's tomorrow or a few weeks from now.

I'm loving the progress on your tank, it's really coming along. Adding live plants was a fantastic idea, and I think you're setting yourself up for a potential Tank of the Month entry - you've got a great foundation to build on. I also wanted to give you credit for entering the last contest, even when your tank wasn't exactly where you wanted it to be - that takes courage, and I think it's awesome.

If your gravel's sharp, it can cause scratches on your corys, but this is pretty rare. To test the gravel, simply rub a few bits against your forearm - if it scratches you, there's a risk it'll scratch your fish too. Make sure to wash your arm with soap and water afterwards to prevent any infection.
