Feeling overwhelmed

Ugh, I'm done, I've literally given up. I tried placing plants around the areas where he'd get agitated and flare at his reflection, but the little guy found a new spot at the back of his tank and started going off again. I'm just so over it, I swear I'm gonna lose it lol.

There's nothing wrong with Bettas flaring. It's just their natural behavior, you know. I mean, they're gonna do it regardless.

I still think it's a problem, kingrise. I mean, constantly flaring can't be good for him, right? I just wanna chill with my Betta, not stress him out.

I think constant flaring can be stressful, and I'm no expert but I've read that adjusting the light can make a big difference. I came across this article that mentions it as a simple fix - "Occasional flaring is normal and healthy behavior... the easiest fix is to adjust the light." It's worth a shot, right?

I'm stuck with this light, it's already fixed to the tank, no way to adjust it. How am I supposed to change it now?

One thing you can try is growing algae on the glass, that might help distract him from his reflection.

To tone down the light, try wrapping it with a transparent blue or red plastic gift wrapper. You can get these at a stationery shop - just get the smallest and cheapest roll. Simply wrap a few rounds around the light to reduce the brightness. The more you wrap, the dimmer it'll get. Secure it with some tape and you're good to go.

By the way, any reflection from the back or side of the tank? If so, you could try covering those areas with light-colored paper or plastic. Avoid dark colors like black, as they'll just reflect the fish's image back at it.

You can tone down the light with a coloured plastic bag, like the orange one you have. Wrap it around the light a few times, and secure it with tape. The more you wrap, the less bright it'll be.

It doesn't seem transparent to me, never tried it though lol
