A memorable experience with fish

One experience that really sticks out to me is when I had a 10-gallon tank with three different species of fish in it - I know, I know, it was probably overcrowded. I was new to keeping fish at the time. What about you, do you have a memorable experience with fish that stands out?

My most memorable experience with fish is the one that still haunts me to this day - I had a major mishap in 2006 that ended with a mass burial.

What keeps me hooked on this hobby is the sheer number of memorable moments I've experienced. Their unique breeding habits and broodcare behaviours are truly unforgettable. I still recall the vibrant colours of wild killies when sunlight hits them just right. And let's not forget the sense of accomplishment when a carefully planned breeding project finally pays off. I must admit, I've had some pretty in-depth 'conversations' with my Cichlids over the years – okay, maybe not really, but I like to think so.

It's the little things that keep me hooked on this hobby.
Their breeding antics, for one. Unforgettable.
Witnessing wild killies light up in the sun - pure magic.
When a carefully planned breeding project finally pays off... those moments are the best.
And, of course, my in-depth discussions with Cichlids about the mysteries of existence.
Okay, I confess, I made that last one up.

No way, you're totally serious about those deep conversations with cichlids, right. I think we've all been there, having those imaginary chats with our fish, maybe not about the meaning of life, but something similar.

The fish have this polite thing down - they never talk back. Grounded, for aquatic creatures. No interrupting, no bad puns, no conspiracy theories.
But the conversations... well, they're still one-sided.

I was inexperienced, made rookie mistakes, and they paid the price. No, they weren't diseased, just victims of my ignorance back in 2006.

I buried them after I killed them all, still feel kinda bad about it.
