Just picked up some more swords and they'll need root tabs. Had a batch go in about 2.5 weeks ago, and the package says once a month is the way to go. Would it be alright to just use one or two root tabs for these new ones?

No problem, I agree with @luminx, you can definitely add those root tabs. I didn't mean to echo their response, just confirming it's the way to go.

It's not necessarily bad, but it can impact plant growth.

Algae's not all bad, in fact it's pretty beneficial as long as your plants are doing alright.

I've got a few small patches of brown and black algae - is this a problem for my fish?

No, it's not necessarily bad for your fish, but it can affect their environment.
