Controlling blanket weed in your aquarium

I'm curious to know what you guys think - was my idea somewhat questionable or a recipe for disaster?

I grabbed some blanket weed from the LFS pond section a few weeks back when I started my fishless cycle. I just wanted some greenery in the tank and didn't think it through. Now I'm wondering about the risks and consequences. If I keep a small, manageable amount in my setup, how silly is that? I really like the way it looks, the shade of green is great and it creates a nice little "carpet" under my driftwood.

Honestly, I think you should just go for it. Algae can be really attractive and adds a nice natural feel to an aquarium. Just treat it like any other plant and maintain it so it doesn't get out of control.

Honestly, I was kinda hoping someone would say that, it's a big relief.

Algae doesn't bother me, to be honest. I think it's only a problem when it's choking out other plants, stopping them from growing.
